Matchday graphics
Lineup, matchday, player feature and tribute graphics for Borussia Dortmund and the USMNT. Nobody asked for these. Built at 1080×1350, 20 to 30 minutes each.
The rules
Four graphics, four different jobs. Most of the positions move. What stays the same is how the pieces sit together, and the photo picks where they go.
-
Yellow
Yellow marks what gets read first. If there's an opponent in the graphic, yellow stays on Dortmund's side of it: the club name, the date bar. If it's only BVB it can take the whole surface, like the lineup does. The tribute goes the other way. Everything else is black and white, so the name and the numbers are the only yellow there.
-
Crest
The two crests stay next to each other. Which corner depends on the photo, wherever there's room, but they never get split up across the graphic.
-
Type
The typeface changes from piece to piece. It's always a condensed sans. Each graphic is its own poster and picking the face is part of making it, so what holds them together is the shape of the letters, not the exact font.
-
Cutouts
Players get cut out and dropped on flat colour, and I let them run off the edge of the frame instead of floating inside it.
-
Date bar
Date and matchweek go in two separate blocks, not one. Placement moves with the photo, same as the crests. Usually the bottom, but not always.
The set
Same rules, four jobs.

Nothing is finished until I've looked at it small. This is the row I check against.
